The Kerala Higher Secondary (commonly referred to as PLUS TWO) is a certification obtained by a student on successful completion of an examination at the end of study at the Higher Secondary (Plus Two) schooling level in Kerala, India. The PLUS TWO is obtained on passing the grade 12 public examination commonly referred to as 'class 12' Kerala State Education Board Class 12.
In accordance with the National Education Policy of 1986, Kerala Government decided to separate Pre-degree Courses from colleges in a phased manner and to introduce 10+2 system in the High Schools of Kerala. Thus Kerala Higher Secondary Department was formed in 1990 in the vision that is to impart best quality higher education to the eligible students of the State who complete their SSLC/equivalent level education. The Government introduced the two-year course named as Higher Secondary (Plus Two) .
